Creative Commons (CC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a globally-accessible public commons of knowledge and culture. We make it easier for people to share their creative works, whether academic, artistic, educational or other, as well as to access and build upon the works of others. By helping people and organizations share knowledge and creativity, we aim to build a more equitable, accessible, and innovative world.
To accomplish our goals, CC has created a global network of experts (the CC Global Network, or “CCGN”) consisting of members, advocates, and other supporters who share our values and goals, and with whom we collaborate in national and international fora in close collaboration with like-minded sister organizations. CC and the CCGN seek to increase and scale our impact and effectiveness globally, finding ways to create value for network members and society by promoting collaboration, mentorship, networking, and meaningful change. Fueling, supporting, motivating, and listening to the CCGN is paramount to scaling CC’s mission; this position is central to accomplishing these critical, shared goals.
Creative Commons is looking for a Network Manager passionate about working with a global open community, open culture, open licensing, and the public domain. The Network Manager will report to the Director of Ecosystem Strategy and will work closely with the CCGN, the Open Policy Manager, and cross-organizationally, including with the CC Open Education, Communications, Legal, and GLAM teams.
This position will support and scale the Creative Commons Global Network. Three years after implementing the Creative Commons Global Network Strategy, the CCGN is in a crucial moment: having established the basic infrastructure (CC Chapters, Network Platforms and decision making committees), it’s now time to grow and leverage its potential. This position is an essential role to support, facilitate, plan and frame collaboration and connectivity across the CCGN and other groups in the open ecosystem. The Network Manager will be involved in development programs, projects, and opportunities to enhance the ability of the network to work together.
