Headquarters: San Diego

Hammer is a bootstrapped, profitable software company that's tripling in size every year. We help car dealers manage their inventory and automate their advertising. Recently, we launched a new customer messaging tool for brick-and-mortar businesses.

We are looking for our first product manager to help us design new features and see them through to the smiling hands of our customers. You'll join a growing team of developers from companies like thoughtbot, Intuit, and Kaplan/Dev Bootcamp who are all excited to be shipping great software products in a calm, collected environment.

The role needs someone who'll be revered by their teammates for their ability to understand customer needs and work cooperatively with developers and designers. You aren't afraid of taking field trips to meet with our customers. You think technically and have a incurable obsession for good design. Field trips to visit customers excite you, as does getting to work closely with marketing, sales, and support.

What you'll do

  1. Mine for customer pain points by synthesizing massive amounts of information from customers, sales, customer support, competitors, etc.
  2. Write-up product opportunities in a way that clearly defines the customer need, value to our business, and requirements.
  3. Work alongside developers and designers to translate product opportunities into beautiful, incremental changes that can be shipped quickly, making sure projects are unblocked and organized along the way.
  4. Make new product rollouts successful for our staff and customers.

You can expect top-of-the-market pay, flexible hours, and a balanced 40-hour work week. We are ideally looking for someone based in the San Diego area or open to relocating. However, we won't let geography get in the way of hiring the best teammate.

  • Health, vision, and dental insurance
  • Remote working and flexible hours
  • 3-weeks vacation (this is a guideline, don't sweat a few extra days)
  • 401K
